March 2015

03 March 2015

Still in Pinnaroo SA and working on the onion harvest, though we have the rest of this week off as the current crew of backpackers finish cutting seed potato and begin to leave, but we'll be back into it next week.

With a few days off we managed to get away to Loxton to stock up the larder and the cellar before heading onto the small town (?) of Lyrup where for $5 you can get one of four powered sites next to a nice stand of trees and of course the Murray River. We had camped there last year when the weather was not so warm, but this time it was very nice, especially sitting in the shade with three of the other campers at happy hour.

Our short stop over at Lyrup was over and we made our way back to Pinnaroo to continue on with the harvest. So far we have managed to harvest one and a half pivots and have the same amount to go. The weather has been pleasant and great for the working day which has been from 8.30am until 6.30pm, good for the harvest and the pocket. And so with another three to four weeks left we will be here for a little while yet.

Mark Twain once said "...years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do that by the things you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." - and so we will.
